GUIDE TO FINDING THE BEST DIGITAL CAMERA

The growing technology of digital cameras means that new developments are happening at a great rate and new cameras are on the market monthly and even weekly. This new technology is aimed at potential clients buying into the newest range, but does this really work?

So you have studied all the reviews spent weeks looking through camera shops and saving all the time for your desired camera. You have chosen the best possible digital camera you can afford with a 512MB expandable memory of super hi-speed SD memory card, the latest eye-popping, 6.5 mega pixel, 12x digital zoom, it has the latest colours, it is the most portable camera on the market, the envy of everyone you know. So now you are ready to buy, off to the mall you go with all your savings, you are so pumped up because at last you will be getting the greatest buy of your life. You Get to your chosen digital camera shop and there in front of you is a poster with the latest technology of the week, a 1G expandable memory, an upgraded eight mega pixels, built in stereo sound with mic, video playback capable, with 22 scenic modes kind-of-camera and you know the camera of your choice is obsolete.

You now want to scream because whoever has produced this new amazing gadget is now the proud producer of the best digital camera on the market (or so he claims). So what do we do now? We get out our credit card pay the extra money and buy what is now the “best digital camera” on the market. But of course this will not last long. Next moth or maybe next week our new digital camera will have been eclipsed by and even better model with higher specs and more bells and whistles. You have the best camera for maybe a couple of weeks and then your friend buys a better one.

So how do you know what is the “best digital camera”. Are you confused? How can you choose a digital camera without feeling cheated after a few weeks? There are things to be considered before you buy which may help. These considerations include;-

Number one priority Mega pixels

The first thing you need is for your pictures to be of the highest quality. In a digital camera this is measured in Mega pixels. Mega pixels are one of the most important qualities in making your digital camera the “best digital camera” on the market. So the first thing to look for is how many mega pixels your camera will have. The more mega pixels the clearer the images you take will turn out. The resolution of your image is based upon the mega pixel property of your camera. This means that as you enlarge the picture, you would get more detail and less blurry colours.

Number two priority Memory

The memory of your digital camera is determined by the size of your memory card. Each manufacturer can bring out his own design of memory card and it may only work with the producers own digital camera so beware when buying a camera with a design of memory card which may become obsolete. Different types of memory card like flash cards, SD and XD only work with certain cameras so when buying extra memory cards for your camera make sure you buy the correct type. The “best digital camera” will have a large memory card so choose the size of memory that you want for your own particular needs, if you're a photo junkie, you might need more than 32MB. Memory cards can be 1G and getting larger all the time.

Number three priority is Zoom

Most good modern digital cameras have both optical and digital zoom. First priority is optical zoom, the higher the optical zoom the more the camera can focus in on a subject. Most cameras will have between 3x and 10 optical zooms. So the higher the Optical zoom the better for your “best digital camera” category. This is also offset with digital zooms for processing the image. However when digital zoom features are used the image quality will deteriorate.

Number four priority LCD Screen

The best digital camera will always have a large LCD to help you frame your subject without having to squint to the viewfinder. This is also helpful when reviewing your images, some cameras enable touch up and editing features with its LCD. A 1.5-inch display is average, a 2-inch LCD display is good, but the best LCD size would be 2.5 inches or higher. If you can get an LCD screen which is also able to be seen in high sunlight situations then this will also go on your “best digital camera” list.

There are so many new features and technology changes happening on a weekly basis with digital cameras, trying to keep up is not possible unless you are terribly rich. The best way to buy your digital camera is to find one that best fits your own needs and lifestyle. To buy the latest that claims to be the best on the market would be folly as next week it will be knocked of the top.

If you are seriously thinking of taking up photography as a profession then you will not want the latest point and click camera but one that has been proven by other professionals to do the job. Technology can only go so far then it is up to the skill of the photographer to be able to get the best out of the camera.

There is actually no “best digital camera” as everyone’s tastes are different. You could ask ten photographers the question and be given ten different cameras as the best. So the best digital camera is the one that best suits your needs and the one you find easy to use and enjoy using.

The last thing you want is to buy a great digital camera and let it stay in the box because you have had enough of it after a few weeks. Take a few simple steps to know what you want and you will have the best digital camera in the world.

Don't take another digital picture until you read this book! Someone has finally gotten into the "secret files" of top photographers and is sharing the information for the first time ever!

Adobe has the Holy Trinity of photo software... Whoops! A religious allegory, during a presidential election year? Yikes. OK, maybe I’ll go to my “B” allegory and refer to Photoshop, Photoshop Lightroom, and Photoshop Elements as the Three Bears of photo editing. For any given person who grudgingly admits to themselves or their life partners that perhaps there are some moments that merit a ...

Why the iPad Works for Writing

When the first iPad launched in 2010, critics were quick to lampoon the device for being geared too heavily toward content consumption. The criticisms weren't entirely without merit, especially considering that the first-generation iPad didn't even have a camera, and external media slots are still nowhere to be found.  Over time, the iPad has evolved into something that's much more creation ...

Pinellas school auction offers bargain deals, but at what cost?
