Digital Camera Accessories
You may have just bought the latest up-to-date Digital camera. You probably took your time studying which was the best camera for your needs and you probably bought the best camera you could afford in that price range. You have probably studied your cameras features and taken some great digital photographs. In fact you may have become very proficient with your digital camera. But after a while you may want more. So what do you do? You could buy an upgraded camera and start again or you could think, what can I get to make my camera better and more useful to use. Well the answer may be to provide your self with some good digital camera accessories.
There are a lot of digital camera accessories that can really help enhance photo quality as you go through life recording everything with your digital camera. Also if digital photography has become a passion with you then you must have those extra resources that can make your digital images even better. Capturing the best digital images require a good digital camera. And along with that you need an in-depth knowledge about how it works and which digital camera accessories will be required to make it better.
One of the first steps to invest in if you want to take your photographs that one step further is good photo software. Not only does photo software help you store all you digital images in an organised fashion but it allows you to manipulate or change your digital images to whatever you want. If you are very serious about manipulating photographs then Photoshop is probably the best photo and graphics editor around. However other packages that are not quite so powerful include photoshop elements, a watered down version of photoshop but it has almost everything you will ever need. (Photoshop elements is what I use myself.). Another good photo editor is Paintshop Pro which you can use to do some good editing or fun stuff like making cartoons with captions. But keeping track of and organising your photo collection is an important element you need.
Another important digital camera accessory is storage capacity for your images. If you are on holiday or in a place you feel you must take lots of images the one thing you do not want is for your cameras memory to be full just when you are in the middle of an exciting shoot. If you are carrying your laptop with you then you could just download the images and then wipe the memory. But carrying your laptop around on holiday is hardly practical. So one of the best digital camera accessories you can have is extra memory. I would say that an extra memory card or two is worth their weight in gold especially when you are away from your normal surroundings. Extra memory is now very cheap and it’s very easy to just remove your full memory device and pop in a new one and continue shooting.
Another digital camera accessory which I regard as a must is spare batteries. Like the memory card your digital camera is of no use if the battery charge has run out. You may be out walking, up in the mountains or out on a boat so you do not want to be carrying battery chargers around with you as excess weight. Then there is the problem of where do you plug it into and how long do you wait for your battery to charge. The obvious solution is to carry extra batteries with you then recharge them all ready for the next day when you get back to civilisation.
Your digital camera probably cost you a lot of money, and it probably has numerous great features to enjoy. However, you should still be thinking of using some digital camera accessories to make sure you can get the most out of your investment. Other great accessories you may want to look at include;
Lenses. Depending on your type of digital camera you may want to add lenses for wide angle zoom etc. then there is a lens and adaptor and lens covers.
Filters. Some filters can absorb UV rays to give a better, sharper, haze free image. A polarizing filter will increase colour and eliminate reflections in your images.
Battery chargers/ AC adaptors. Battery chargers are used for rechargeable batteries. AC adaptors are used to convert power sources to the one you need.
Camera protection. A camera protector is a glass sheet that lies over the LCD screen to protect it from scratches or accidental damage.
Viewfinder accessories. Viewfinder accessories include eyecups that cushion the eye and shields against stray light.
Remote controls. Remote controls are ideal for setting up the camera and taking either self portraits or to prevent camera shake.
Camera bags/carrying systems. Camera bags are ideal for storing and protecting your camera and other accessories like lenses, batteries and such. Carrying systems are similar to a backpack but have all the pockets and storage for when you are out and about.
Camera straps. Camera straps are used to take the weight of a heavy camera for prolonged shooting.
Wireless transmitters. Wireless transmitters are used for wireless image transfers from your digital camera t your computer.
Waterproof housings. Waterproof housings allow you to encase your camera in housing and take images underwater.
Cables. There are allsorts of cables available to transfer your data to various points.
Tripods. Tripods are used to let your camera stand alone and are ideal for an unsteady hand or when a long exposure is vital.
Of course there are hundreds of other digital camera accessories that have there uses but are far too many to mention here. But if you want the best out of your digital camera then you should look at your camera manufacturers digital camera accessories.
