Olympus D 390 Review

Olympus is one of the biggest names in digital photography as well as a whole range of other products. They build a diverse line in digital cameras for all levels ranging from small entry-level, point-and-shoot editions to there top of the range excellent pro-level E-20 SLR. One of there latest entry level cameras is the Olympus d 390.

The company's "D" series of digital cameras are not for the professional and is aimed more at novices, it is sleek, compact, has great styling, easy to use, and also has many good features.

Olympus D 390 overview

One of there latest models is the Olympus D-390. It features a 2.0-megapixel CCD with good image quality and resolution. It features automatic exposure control with four scene modes. It also features a 2.5x digital zoom and a fixed focal length lens. Although the price is good the image quality is maybe not the best but is certainly better than most entry level cameras on the market.

The Olympus D-390 is a basic no frills model and is thin and compact. It features the very popular Olympus clamshell sliding lens cover. It is great for taking away for a day out because it can easily slide into a pocket for easy carrying. Its 2.0-megapixel CCD with fixed-focal-length lens is capable of taking photos that can be printed to a 5x7 inch size. It has a low resolution image setting which is good for sending as email attachments and is perfect for taking snapshots.

The lens of the d390 is a 5mm fixed and is the equivalent of a 38mm lens on a 35mm camera. Its macro setting can focus at 8 inches from the subject. Not a true optical zoom it does have a 2.5x Digital Zoom available. It also has an optical view finder and 1.8-inch colour LCD monitor for image composing.

The Olympus d-390 digital camera is an entry level model for photographic beginners or those that just want to shove a camera into there pocket on a day out. Its bare bone features are ample for point and click photography but is a good starter cam for those on a budget. The neat sliding lens cover serves not only to protect the lens but also as a power switch. It measures 4.4 x 2.4 x 1.6 inches and has a lightweight plastic body. It weighs only 7.9 ounces and comes with batteries and memory card. It also includes a wrist strap. The Olympus d-390 digital handles nicely and sits well in the hand
