Fortunately for photographers, there are several simple fixes that are available for the more common problems one might encounter with digital camera technology. The following is a list of the most common problems and the solutions to these problems.
Your Camera Refuses To Turn On
All digital camera technology requires power to operate, and this is usually supplied in the form of batteries or through an AC adaptor. If your camera refuses to turn on, the first thing you should do is to check whether batteries have power in them. If the batteries have power, then you shuold try connecting the camera to the AC adaptor. Following which you should remove the batteries, disconnect the AC adaptor, and leave the camera to settle for a few minutes. Then replace the batteries and reconnect the AC adaptor. You should now be able to turn your camera on.
Your Camera Refuses To Take Any Pictures
The first thing you should do if this happens is to ensure that your camera is not in one of the alternative modes such as review or playback mode. You should then ensure that your memory card has been properly inserted and formatted. It is also possible that your memory card is full and you will need to delete some of the images stored on it or transfer them to your computer in order to take more. You should also ensure that the batteries are fully powered and that the camera's flash is not in the process of recharging. You Let Your Camera Get Wet
Most digital camera technology does not work well when wet, and should your camera ever get wet, you must dry it out as fast as possible. Turn your camera off and take off any removable pieces. Leave your camera to dry for at least 24 hours before reinserting the batteries and attempting to turn it on again.
Your Camera's Display Screen Keeps Switching Off
The display screen on your camera is essential for taking pictures, and you will not be able to operate your camera properly without it. If it is malfunctioning, there may a message indicating something is wrong with the focus or lighting. It is more likely that the problem is related to the power mode, however, and you should ensure that power-save mode of your camera has not been activated. You should also check that your batteries contain sufficient power to operate the screen and that they have not been damaged by excessively high or low temperatures, which can cause them to malfunction. Room temperature is the optimum temperature for the operation of digital camera technology.
